Website And Matching Blog Using WordPress As CMS: Easy As Pie!

If my post on website designs using WordPress as CMS made you say “You can do that with WordPress?”, then I’m pretty sure my next series of posts will make you jump for joy and say “So that’s how it’s done!”.
I already built a couple of website using WordPress as CMS, so I know some of the issues / annoyances involved. This is why I’m already working on a system to make my life easier on all future projects. So I would like to take this opportunity and write a detailed tutorial on how to build a website and matching blog (or news section if you like), using WordPress as CMS.
The end goal
Some of you might not know this, but me and my wife (who’s a dentist) launched a new business last year: a dental practice. As you can imagine, I was in charge of designing the website and business cards. I used static HTML pages, since it’s not the kind of website that you need to update very often. Plus I’m a web designer, so who cares!
Well, since I wanted to add a blog to the website for quite some time, why not convert the whole website to WordPress, for the sake of this tutorial? I’m sure this will make it much more interesting. So here’s what we’re gonna build:

The roadmap
You know those perfect web design tutorials, that only give you the right answers? Well… they are great, but unfortunately, the moment something goes wrong, you can end up wasting valuable time, googleing for answer.
I won’t spare any details. If something doesn’t work, you’ll know about it. Of course I can’t account for everything that you screw up (joke!), but I’ll do my best. This will be a three part tutorial:
- WordPress CMS Part 1: Settings And Plugins
- WordPress CMS Part 2: Theme Implementation
- WordPress CMS Part 3: Finishing Touches
Can you afford to miss this?
If you think this you can learn someething new from this tutorial, then do subscribe to my RSS feed. Email is also ok, cause my blog allows you to subscribe by email.
