Things You Should Know Before Contacting Me for a Project
Since I started this blog I received a lot of requests for custom WordPress theme design, from people using my contact form. I usually reply to each one of these emails, even though most of them don’t offer even the most basic info about what the project involves.
Most of the people that contact me are not willing to take 15 minutes and write a short description or draw a quick sketch, but everyone wants to know the price involved. It’s like asking “how much does a car cost?”. What would you answer to that? Well… my answer to those clients is along the same lines: I tell them it depends on a lot of things and if possible I give them a couple of options / ideas. That’s usually the last time I hear from them. Not everyone is willing to invest in a custom WordPress theme. But hey… that’s why free WordPress themes exist.
I will update my website (I know I said I will get a new domain, but I’m having second thoughts) with all the proper info about my services. That way you won’t have to ask me too many questions about my services and instead just focus on your project brief. After that, I will keep replying to people asking for help or tips, but I will no longer reply to project requests, as long as they don’t have a minimum documentation attached. Please read the lines below, or your email will end up in my Trash folder. This may sound harsh, but that’s the way things will work from now on. This post and a couple of other posts will become links on my contact form.
RFP Guidelines
- Don’t write a generic message, just saying you want a WordPress theme for your blog. If you just want “a WordPress theme”, you can go get a free theme.
- Check my portfolio before contacting me. I only design professional looking themes at a very attractive price for that level of quality. Don’t expect a cheap solution!
- Don’t ask me for my phone number, cause the phone number is for clients, not potential clients. You have the contact form at your disposal, so that should be enough to get the ball rolling.
- Unless you represent Coca Cola, Nike, etc. or you are an established blogger with a substantial readership, don’t tell me your project would give me a great exposure.
- You’re not getting a discount for multiple projects. If you’re looking for a bargain, you’ve come to the wrong place.
- My business terms include a 50% upfront payment on all projects.
If you are not sure what you want, but are curious about how much a custom WordPress theme design might cost, then subscribe to my RSS feed. There will be a post about this soon.
