That’s right! It’s raining cats and dogs outside, so I thought I should get a couple of things off my mind and on my blog.
About two months ago I wasn’t very happy with how my blogging started out. I had big plans for this blog, a lot of ideas for great, useful blog posts, but very little time. So I decided to take action and post a list of ideas. You know… make a commitment to my readers (18 subscribers at the time), but also generate some buzz that would help me get past the 100 subscribers limit.
While I only used some of those ideas in blog posts (but came up with new ones instead), today my subscriber count shows 135. This means people find my posts (well… at least some of them) interesting, which motivates me to keep writing.
So in the weeks to follow I will pick up on some of the untouched ideas, but also adding new ones. Here are some of the main topics I will be covering:
Elance tips
I will continue my series on Elance tips. Looks like Top 5 Projects You Should Run Away From was really popular. I will discuss more sensitive aspects such as Elance pricing, free mockups and managing multiple projects.
Building a small business website
Most of you probably don’t know this, but there’s a website in my web design portfolio that was not just another project. It’s a long term commitment and a family business. I’m talking about Sky Dental. I designed and built this website as a series of static HTML pages.
In the next couple of weeks I will write a couple of tutorials on how to design such a website, from sketch to mockup to XHTML/CSS. The next step will be to test drive a couple of specialized CMS solutions, as well as Wordpress used as CMS.
More blogging bits
I will also write about my new custom Wordpress theme design, about some must have plugins and also about finiding inspiration for blog posts. This week-end I will probably publish Part 3 of my blog traffic building series.
More reasons to interact
With all this great content coming your way, it would be a shame not to interact. That’s why I added this cool widget called Skribit, where you can make suggestions for new blog topics. Do you have questions about freelancing, blogging or web design? Now you can leave me a note directly on the blog.
I also installed a great plugin called Comment Luv, so whenever you leave a comment, you will also get a free link back to your latest blog post. That’s a great reason to stop being a lurker and start being a commentator. On top of that, each month the top 10 commentators are listed in the sidebar, receiving yet another link. I trust you will not abuse this feature and engage in constructive conversations. ![]()

The beginning is allways hard. Especially with a business site, or a nieche blog. People won’t start to read the blog daily unless you give them free stuff, write often (twice a day) etc. But there’s time for evrything.
P.S.: There’s a storm over Constanta, heard there’s only rain back there in Bucharest.
I hear you. Guess I will keep the free stuff coming.
And yeah, this blog’s a long term investment (right now of mostly time). I’m not going anywhere.
I’m looking forward to seeing anything you have on converting a css site to wordpress, I’ve been using it in non standard configurations as an easy way to create a CMS based website for clients that want to be able to edit their own pages, I pretty much use standard templates and hack them up to make them look how the client wants.
it makes it much easier to have a site up and running in no time at all!
it’d be nice to be able to do my own from scratch though.

Hey Adrian!
Well, your blog is fantastic and I really like your first Wordpress theme (I’m going to use it for my site). Also we two have got the same goals -> earn enough money to retire at the age of 40 :D. I’m very motivated in creating my passive income and hope that you share your experiences with us.
I guess that I’m your 135th subscriber.
Greetings from sunny Germany
