Wordpress Theme: Corporate Sandbox

Exactly one month ago (funny coincidence) I said I will release a couple of free Wordpress themes. I’ve been tied up with a couple of projects, but I managed to make some time and implement the first theme:

Today I would like to present Corporate Sandbox, a minimalistic Wordpress theme based on the Sandbox theme. The theme look and feel relies almost entirely on CSS and uses just a couple of images. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, so that it would integrate with almost any website.

The theme is widget ready and very easy to customize: you can change title color in CSS in just a couple of seconds.

Corporate Sandbox

Corporate Sandbox is a clean and light theme, ideal for corporate blogs. It’s also a great starting point for developing future Wordpress themes. Designers can use this theme as a canvas for their creative ideas.

Feel free to leave your feedback or questions in the comments. I would love to know what you think about this theme. This is version 1.0, so version 1.1 will incorporate all your feedback.

LATER EDIT: I fixed the IE6 and Safari issues and made some other small tweaks. You can download the valid, cross browser version using the above link.

I like this theme, it’s very minimalistic and clean.

I found a problem under IE6(win). Check the bubble with the comments.(span class=”comments-link”)

    The theme is absolutely great!
I love Sandbox and I love this layout — so easy to brand!

    Thank you :)

    Thanks, guys!

@Ivo: Yaiks! I’ll check that and come up wih a fix. The post titles have some unwanted spacing also.

@Filip: You said it best! This is exactly what the theme is about: an easy to brand theme. If you’re customizing a blog for a client, you can make some quick money by using this theme as a starting point. I know I have. ;)

Thanks Adrian for this nice and clean theme. I’ve seen that the comment graphic is cut in IE6.

I’d like to ask you why do you use float left on the sidebar, when you could use float right and a clearfix? Is it a validation issue?

    Thanks.

    Hello Adrian,

Nice work on this one. I myself, am a big fan of minimal designs. :) Please, let me know when you will have a final release for this theme. I want to recommend it on my blog.

For the bug that where mentioned:
    1. The comments bubble in IE. I think you need to add some height to you inner link, to force the span and div whow the entire background. Try line-height or height with display block.

    2. The large spacing under the post headings in IE is due to the “clear” class. I’m having the same problems sometimes.
I have 2 fixes for this:
    a. use a surrounding div to contain both the left & right floats. Give this div a fixed width (according to your theme) and overflow: hidden. Also, set a bottom margin for it equal to the space you need between the title and the post. It’s important to set a fixed width.
    b. Alternatively, to your “clear” class add: font-size: 0; height: 0; line-height: 0; That extra space appears because IE inserts a space there, or reserves the space for “future text”.

Thanks a lot Alex. I’ll be sure to have a fix ready this week-end. 2.b. is what I usually use also. Guess I was in a hurry to release this theme.

    I’ll keep you posted!

P.S. Wish I could edit that typo in your comment, but I couldn’t find the Edit comment in WP 2.5. :(

Ha ha … BUG fan. Go to “Comments” in the Admin Panel an when you see my comment, click on my name. It will bring you to the edit form.

Thanks! Not very intuitive, is it? I’ll write some thoughts about WP 2.5 in my next post.

Adrian, you should also update the theme preview. Cheers!

Thanks Fath. I still have to upload the latest version with minor bug fixes. By the way, Whitpaper looks awesome. Will definitely make it into my next “clean WP themes” showcase.

Oh, I greatly appreciate that :)
