When I was trying my arse off to get traffic I was getting minimal to no results. The moment I slowed down and start participating in discussions on other's blogs got to know the people behind the blogs I was reading traffic started increasing. My traffic numbers are still horrible but not nearly as horrible as they were before. I guess its about the Zen approach I guess? I agree with the whole be yourself thing. Your right about commenting, the best way to get 'real' traffic is to get people from search engines or from other sites in your niche.
